The Last Cold Night of Winter

This winter has been intense. It has shoved us Floridians into our dwellings, lock and key, heater blasted, huddled together or huddled alone to try and keep warm. We can't handle cold weather, especially not for months on end.

 [Hogan St.]

So, this March when the monthly Art Walk rolled around, everyone's resounding cries to get out of the house and explore the cavernous regions of our local downtown was short lived. By dusk, it was but again a whisper, huddled inside, barely heard by any.

Denim is the New Denim is the New Denim

Denim will never go out of style. It is not a little known fact. From cowboys in the wild wild west to the upper east side... denim is a staple of any iconic wardrobe. I love denim. I would swim in denim if I could. Stitch it to my being. Wear it every single day. Maybe sleep in it. It's comfortable, comforting, goes with everything, can be dressed up, dressed down, and can be identified with any and every kind of look out there.

This morning before heading outside to try and enjoy some of this amazing weather [Finalmente Florida. Geez.] I was perusing through the Florida Times Union over coffee and a scone when I came across this great article about this season's approach to denim. [Yes! I took fashion advice from the Florida Times Union. Or rather New York where they swiped the article from.]

You['re] Right To Feel Your Pain

I went to my friend's lakehouse recently. It had been years since I had been there.

Going back there was like travelling back in time to a dream. Or a distant memory. It didn't quite take on the restorative nature that it used to. It didn't swallow me up and let me simmer in it's healing properties of nature and ease and simplicity, only to release me as a rejuvenated version of myself.

Onions + Olives

Our dear friends Cait + Paul recently had the best idea for a Friday night: homemade pizza. They provided the dough, sauce and cheese, guests bring the toppings.  Justin and I, of course, brought onions and green olives [my favorite!!]. We also enjoyed some Italian sausage, green peppers, more onion, and I think some pepperoni might have slipped in there somewhere. [Or maybe I dreamt that because I love pepperoni so much.]

I Spy With My Magic Eye...

It was while perusing the various discount, specialty, seasonal, best selling tables at the Barnes & Nobles looking for a birthday present that I came across a little gem from my past. I was looking for a gift for a graphic designer... not exactly the easiest task in the book if you are looking to be even somewhat impressive.

I had my hand wrapped around a Salvador Dali coffee table book [the kind with fold out envelope pouches filled with replica's of real life tid-bits from Dali's past] when out of the corner of my eye I caught the shiny blue shimmer of one of the most fascinating pieces of bound art ever created. The Magic Eye book.
