Onions + Olives

Our dear friends Cait + Paul recently had the best idea for a Friday night: homemade pizza. They provided the dough, sauce and cheese, guests bring the toppings.  Justin and I, of course, brought onions and green olives [my favorite!!]. We also enjoyed some Italian sausage, green peppers, more onion, and I think some pepperoni might have slipped in there somewhere. [Or maybe I dreamt that because I love pepperoni so much.]

Pizza numero uno.

 Fantastico! Bravissimo!

The girls grabbed some beers and sat around the table chatting. Kirk perused Paul's GRE vocabulary book, occasionnally quizzing us on various entries, nearly none of which we knew. I doodled on a notepad, reinvigorating my short lived passion for visual arts. And the boys hustled down over the stove like it was their own little pizzeria. Dough might have been tossed. Cowboy boots were worn. Great conversation commenced. And voila! Pizza Pizza!

Peace in the Mid-East Side of Jacksonville. More like the center really.

Pizza numero due.

We only made two pizzas. Seriously, how much can one group eat? [Don't answer that.] So, next time there might be some ham and pineapple thrown in there. Or artichoke hearts. Or spinach and garlic. Or some egg and sopressata... the possibilities are endless.

Activitations.

Thumbs and beers up!

Kitten approved. Hello big yellow eyes.

The resemblance is uncanny.

Everyone left happy and full. Justin and I have often times made pizza at our own casa, but it's easy to forget how much fun cooking as a group can be. It's something we always did when camping, or holing away at the lake house, or in college when we were all way too poor to afford a dinner out. But group cooking is more than just the tasty morsels put into one's mouth. You connect to the food. You connect to the moment. You connect to each other.

Salut! Buon appetito.

yum. and i love group meals too.

I would be super excited (yes, that's how lame my life is) if that were MY old GRE book handed down to Megan a few years back? It is nice to hear when things are continuously reused!

and yum.

Sarah! That is the one! Or, actually, I gave him all three! You are so funny that you noticed that.
